Yes! she thought fiercely in return as her feet hit the water (she'd chosen, at the last minute, to jump rather than dive, that one bit of self-preservation ingrained too deeply to change) and she went under, marveling at her own lack of fear.

It was over so quickly; she'd barely had time to feel the drop. The water was cold, icy, bone-chilling, but it barely reached her; adrenaline still propelled her forward as she struggled to surface.

And then the current caught her.

Suddenly she was drowning -- the knowledge didn't alarm her, even as she struggled against the waves and fought for the surface. She didn't have any fear left in her, but a part of her still reached for her vision of Edward, wanting to have him with her if this was how she ended.
